August 2022 - Upper School Newsletter

Dear Upper School Parents and Caregivers,
For those of you who are new to the Allendale Columbia family, we hope this message finds you excited about joining the AC community. We are looking forward to welcoming you to the school. For returning families, we hope you have been enjoying the summer and are ready to join us for an exciting year of growth and learning! We have been working extremely hard to prepare the school for the students’ return in September, and this email will give you some key pieces of information regarding the start of the school year. 

MyACS & Schedules

As of August 1st, parents and students can access schedules at access student schedules, you must log in to your MyACS account. Instructions to access information through MyACS are below:
Once you are in the system, and you have clicked the name of the student in the top left corner of the screen, you will see a schedule tab. Select dates for the start of school and you will see the meeting times of the courses your child is enrolled in. 


This is a reminder to schedule an appointment if needed over the summer to obtain any required paperwork for next year. To attend Allendale Columbia School in the fall, New York State requires parents to provide: 
  • PHYSICAL within a year for all new students, athletes, and students entering the following grades: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th.

  • PROOF OF NYS REQUIRED IMMUNIZATIONS for new students and students entering Pre-K, Kindergarten, 6th, 7th, and 11th. Regarding vacations and shots, five vaccines are checked before Pre-K, three are checked before Kindergarten, Tdap is checked before 6th, and Meningococcal is checked before 7th and 11th grades.

  • NEW MEDICATION ORDERS from a licensed prescriber each school year for all medications including over the counter and self carry medications.

  • NEW EMERGENCY CARE PLANS for all students with life threatening conditions including allergies, asthma, diabetes, and seizure disorders.

Important Dates

August 22nd: HAC JV/Varsity Fall Sports Start

August 23rd: PACK Welcome Back Picnic for all AC Families 5-7 p.m.
Join us for a back-to-school picnic to see old faces and meet new friends!  The event will be held on campus in the AC Courtyard. Please bring money for the Tom Wahl's Food Truck or BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic).  It's a perfect way to kick-off the school year!
August 31st: Upper School New Student Orientation
This event is for all incoming 9th grade students as well as any students who are new to the Upper School. It is for students only, and parents can drop their students off at the Welcome Desk area at 11:25 a.m. Students should be wearing masks for their visit, and we will be practicing physical distancing during all activities. During this event, students will practice their schedule, meet their teachers, and get their questions answered prior to the first day of school. Students should dress for the weather and wear shoes that are comfortable to walk in. A box lunch will be provided by our kitchen staff.

August 31st: Parent Orientation 6 - 7 p.m.
This event is for all parents who are new to the Upper School. This event is designed to provide new parents and returning parents new to a division with information that is helpful for an easy transition this fall. We hope to see you there!
September 7th: First Day of School for Grades K-12
We look forward to welcoming students for the first day of school!

September 26th: Rosh Hashanah (No School)
Rainbow Room is open 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
October 5th: Yom Kippur (No School)
Rainbow Room Open 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
October 7th & 8th: Blue and White Day & Homecoming
AC’s traditional Blue and White Day will occur the Friday before Homecoming. 

October 10th: Columbus Day/ Indigenous People's Day (No School)
Rainbow Room Open 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
October 12th: Student Testing Day
  • Grade 9: Class Activity
  • Grade 10: Pre-ACT Day 
  • Grade 11: PSAT Day
  • Grade 12: SAT School Test Day (optional)
October 27th: Middle and Upper School Parent Night
