Diwali Celebration

Emily Nevinger
Lower (Kindergarten through Grade 5), Middle, and Upper School students, faculty, and staff will join together for a school-wide event in honor of Diwali the Festival of Lights. Diwali is a major cultural event celebrated across India and around the world, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
As part of Allendale Columbia’s commitment to fostering globally engaged and culturally literate students, this educational event offers our community an opportunity to learn about world traditions together.

This inclusive AC event is generously sponsored by current parents Vikram and Nalini in collaboration with the Dogra Art Foundation.

The morning begins with special division assemblies featuring traditional Rangoli floor art, a symbolic lamp lighting, and an introduction to Diwali traditions. Students and faculty will also receive commemorative gift bags to mark the occasion.
Following the assemblies, students and staff will enjoy optional chai and samosas, as well as a festive catered lunch in the Ursula Burns Dining Commons featuring traditional Indian dishes alongside standard school dining options.
All catered food is strictly nut-free with full ingredient labeling to ensure a safe and delicious experience for everyone.
