Getting Started in 4th Grade
Students are invited to begin their band journey in 4th Grade with woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments.

Early Exploration: At the start of the school year, students take sample lessons to try out different instruments.

Choosing Instruments: By the second quarter, students select their instrument and begin group lessons by instrument type.

First Performance: Students prepare for their first concert performance in the spring.

We offer ensembles for every stage of development:

Beginner Bands:

Intermediate Players:

Concert Band – Open to band students (and orchestral string players who study privately). Piano players often join as pitched percussionists.

Advanced Ensemble – For students with significant experience (string and piano players welcome. Piano players often join as pitched percussionists.)
Small-group lessons continue through 8th Grade,
providing specialized instruction tailored to each student's needs.

Intermediate and Advanced musicians perform in:

Lower School Bands perform in:
