Allendale Columbia School Operating Face-to-Face Since September

PITTSFORD, N.Y. — As some district school systems look for ways to fully reopen, one independent school in Pittsford has been operating with face-to-face classes since the start of the school year.
“I think what’s most important is that we have buy-in from our parents and our faculty and staff,” said Shannon Baudo, interim head of school.

Local experts share advice for college search process

The college search can be a difficult process for many high school students and their families, especially now during a pandemic.
Allendale Columbia is hosting a free virtual event next week providing an overview of the current college admissions process. The event is happening March 16 at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

Rochester Independent School Wins Grand Prize for Plant-based Menu Lunches

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine—a national doctors group with more than 12,000 members—awards Allendale Columbia School the grand prize in the 2020 Golden Carrot Awards. The nursery through grade 12 independent school will receive a $500 cash prize in recognition of its exceptionally healthful lunches and outstanding health promotion initiatives. Read more

Allendale Columbia offering extracurricular activities

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We know the coronavirus has changed so much with school, especially in the classrooms, but what about extracurricular activities?
Allendale Columbia has been open for about three weeks now, and the interim head of the school says it’s been smooth sailing. So far, there’s been no coronavirus cases and they are working hard to make sure students get the full experience, especially when it comes to extracurricular activities. Read more

Schools prepare for reopening in September

Local schools are fine tuning their safety plans, as they prepare to start the school year. There are a lot of questions from parents, and those school districts will have to answer them…. Allendale Columbia is bring all students back 5 days a week in person, and all students and faculty will be asked to leave by 3:30 each day to allow for a thorough cleaning. Read more
