An annual celebration when Seniors wear t-shirts with their college of choice and we take a Class of 2023 photo. This year, we are also combining our Senior Decision Day Celebration with the Alumni Luncheon.
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day is coming up and we’d like to express our gratitude by treating the amazing Allendale Columbia School team to a luncheon on Friday, May 5th. We need your help to make the celebration extra special!
Usually, faculty and staff members eat with (and supervise) students during the lunch periods. On Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day, in addition to seeking luncheon-related donations from parents, we are seeking parent volunteers to fill lunch positions with students so that faculty and staff members can attend the luncheon and enjoy a relaxing meal with their colleagues.
Please take a moment to Sign Up for donations to be dropped off by the morning of May 5th and/or for lunch coverage.
The faculty and staff would love to hear from you (and/or your children) with a note of appreciation too! These can be dropped off along with donations by Friday morning, May 5th.
Please help show our support and heartfelt appreciation to the talented and dedicated AC faculty and staff who devote so much time fostering our children’s curiosity, identity, and passion for learning.
This concert is a celebration of the learning that has taken place in music for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. It is the premiere performance of the 4th Grade Band, and the 5th Grade Band will perform selections that they have studied and created, starting in January. All students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are expected to perform in this event, as it is a culminating activity, and everyone is integral to the performance. Dress is "nice" but not "fancy." (Dress shoes, slacks, skirts, dress shirts/blouses, dresses are all acceptable, and there is no color scheme.)
The Black Student Alliance Conference is an annual effort to bring together collegiate and high school students to commemorate and celebrate the work of Black Student Unions in Monroe County. The event will serve to create unity and camaraderie amongst Black Students in Rochester while simultaneously acquainting high school students with college life. Students will work together in a variety of workshops to hone their leadership skills with the intention of creating more robust programming in their respective school. Our intention is to prepare Black students for organization and leadership responsibilities on a scale larger than individual schools.
The May Makers Market happens each year leading up to many special spring celebrations and is a great time to purchase a handmade gift for someone you love! Student makers will be selling their handmade goods side by side with local artists and creators. You may find a cutting board, earrings, buttons, or other assorted trinkets to gift or keep for yourself! This event is sponsored by the Center for Creativity and Entrepreneurship and truly encapsulates our values and vision. Allowing students to BE entrepreneurs and sell their products is a great way to learn about business and creativity.

This year we will resume the tradition of our fifth grade class attending an overnight trip. We are very excited to further explore the fifth grade Project Based Learning unit on immigration and migration by visiting the Immigration Museum, Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and the National Museum of the American Indian. This trip is the culminating experience for our students in Lower School and prepares them for their next step in Middle School.

Strawberry Breakfast is a long-standing Allendale Columbia tradition and features a short program honoring the seniors with dances, songs, and special ceremonies. This is followed by refreshments (including strawberries!) in the Dining Commons. All family members are invited to attend this event and many students are involved in the program. This year’s Strawberry Breakfast will take place in the AC courtyard from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26th. There are no classes on this day, so there will be no buses, attendance, or classes and students should leave campus after the event. Little School is open.
