After-School Learning for K-8

AC After 3 offers engaging after school programs designed and delivered by AC faculty, giving students the opportunity to explore topics that reflect their teachers’ passions and expertise. With a wide range of offerings that change by season and student interests, these extracurricular classes encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. Programs are open to students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 (varies by class).

Students registered for sessions beginning at 3:30 p.m. may gather in a supervised space starting at 3:00 p.m. for a light snack and playtime before the session begins.

Please note: Class sizes are limited, and enrollment is first-come, first-served. Instructors reserve the right to cancel a class if minimum enrollment is not met by the registration deadline.

Greasy Grimy Slippery Slimy with Ms. Crowe
Grades K-3 | 3:30 - 4:30 P.M.
If messy experiments, potions, strange facts and fizzy/foamy explorations sound like fun, then this is the class for you ! Students will explore hands-on projects and activities that are Greasy, Grimy, Slippery and Slimy!
 
Welcome to RPG Tabletop Games with Ms. Offord
Grades 3-6 | 3:30 - 4:30 P.M.
Do you long for adventure, or love telling made-up stories? Do you like imagining you are someone else while you go on quests and explore new worlds with a team of friends at your side? Join the AC After 3 Welcome to TTRPG class to meet with fellow adventurers and game together! We will sample a variety of tabletop games, including Kids on Bikes, Hero Forge, and Dungeons and Dragons. Join us to build characters, solve challenges, meet magical creatures, and explore unknown worlds all from the comfort of a cozy classroom right here at AC. Snacks and game materials will be provided. This class is a prerequisite to join the AC after 3 Dungeons and Dragons clubs for experienced players.

Artsy Cats 3.0 with Ms. King
Grades K-5 | 3:30-4:30
Join Ms. King, our enthusiastic Kindergarten Teacher, for another engaging after-school adventure that blends the playful charm of cats with the timeless brilliance of famous artists. Imagine curious cats leaping into Edvard Munch’s The Scream or posing mysteriously in Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Could we be looking at a Purr-scream or a MEOW-nalisa?

In this fun and interactive session, students will learn fascinating facts about celebrated artists while exploring the whimsical world of feline-inspired art. Together, we’ll spark imaginations and create unique, artful masterpieces inspired by the greats.

Robot Builders presented by the Brooklyn Robot Foundry

Join Brooklyn Robot Foundry for Robot Builders where we’ll blend creativity and STEAM as kids build real working robots each week – complete with lights, sounds, or movement! Through engaging hands-on lessons they’ll learn engineering basics, boost problem-solving skills and leave every class proud, inspired, and holding their custom creation.

Thursday, November 13, 20 & December 4, 11, 18

Return to D&D with Ms. Offord and Mr. Youngblut
Grades 3–6 | 3:15-4:30
This AC After 3 program welcomes back students who have attended a previous AC Dungeons and Dragons club, including summer D&D and last year's AC After 3 Dungeons and Dragons clubs. Students will jump into an ongoing campaign-- a shared story where they will use everything they have learned so far about character stats, casting spells, difficulty classes, and ability checks. Characters will begin at level 6! Snacks and game materials will be provided.
